Volunteer Abroad 2.0

I recently wrote a guest post for a volunteer abroad crowdfunding platform, Volunteer Forever. I explored how social media and technology have changed the way we interact, and by extension, the volunteer abroad industry. I volunteered in Mexico with my church in high school, and want to volunteer abroad again one day.

The advancements in social media remove many of the fundraising barriers that stood just 10 years ago. However, picking a program is a challenge.

Here’s a few lines from the post:

“A simple Google search of “volunteer abroad programs” yields an astounding 6,420,000 results as of this writing. So, obviously, Google isn’t the most efficient way to pick your experience. There are now platforms that serve as directories of volunteer projects, and also include reviews from past volunteers. This allows you to read what others have experienced, and be more confident in choosing the right project.”
